Scottish runner-up in Lancaster Stakes

Scottish finished an unlucky second in the G3 Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes over an extended 10 furlongs at Haydock Park, UK, on Saturday, August 6.
The four-year-old son of Teofilo, trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, broke well and soon established a clear lead over his five rivals.
He travelled strongly into the race and found plenty under pressure when joined by Royal Artillery over a furlong from home.
Royal Artillery edged into a definite lead entering the final half-furlong but made contact with Scottish in the process, unbalancing the Godolphin runner.
Scottish could not recover and was eased to come home a length and a quarter behind Royal Artillery, who scored in 2m 7.71s on good to firm turf.
