Sir Fever Out To Continue Winning Streak In Al Bastakiya

Sir Fever bids for an 11th straight win on his Godolphin debut in the Listed Al Bastakiya Sponsored By Emirates Skywards over nine and a half furlongs on dirt at Meydan, UAE, on Saturday, March 7.

The unbeaten southern hemisphere-bred colt became the first horse since Invasor in 2005 to capture the Uruguayan Triple Crown and posted a convincing five and a half-length victory in the local Group One Gran Premio Nacional over an extended 12 furlongs on dirt at Maronas on November 9.

All nine of his other victories came at the same course, including comprehensive local Group One wins in the 10-furlong Gran Premio Jockey Club on October 5 and the mile Clasico Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos on September 7.

His trainer Charlie Appleby commented: "Sir Fever was unbeaten in Uruguay, winning the country's Triple Crown, and is an exciting prospect to train.

"I have been pleased with the way he has settled in out here. He is a proven performer over 10 and 12 furlongs and the track conditions should suit as he won on dirt out in Uruguay.

"He is a big, honest galloper. I have watched his races and he looks like a real galloper, which is what he has shown us in his work as well.

"He has been impressive in what he has done in his racing and has posted good times in his victories. If he can translate that form to Meydan, he is obviously going to have an exciting career."

William Buick takes the ride for the first time on Sir Fever, who opposes five rivals including Mubtaahij, who was beaten a head by Godolphon's Maftool in the UAE 2000 Guineas, and Meydan Classic fifth Tashbeeh.

Godolphin has won the Al Bastakiya six times with E Dubai (2001), Expect (2002), Inamorato (2003), Soy Libriano (2009), Mendip (2010) and Secret Number (2013).
