Siskany notched a fourth win over Meydan’s 14-furlong turf course and set himself up for another Dubai Gold Cup bid with a straightforward success in the G3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy on Friday, 23 February.
The Dubawi six-year-old captured the same race in 2023 in addition to two renewals of the Listed Al Khail Trophy, with his only course defeat coming when going down by a neck to Broome in the 2023 G2 Dubai Gold Cup.
Siskany was covered up in third behind New London and Scottish Anthem for much of the race before switching off the rail to go second over a furlong and a half from home.
After heading New London just inside the final furlong, Siskany was kept up to his work by William Buick to beat a staying-on Sea Stone by a length. New London stuck to his task in third, a further two and a quarter lengths back.
William Buick said: “Siskany is just a lovely horse. He has been around for a while now and is very predictable. He always turns up, does his best, and seems to excel here at Meydan as well.
“He is a pleasure to ride. He is probably a horse who prefers to have a target to aim at late on, but he can do it any way. He knows where the line is around here and all I had to do was point and shoot.”
