Sky Angel produced the best performance of her career so far as she was caught in the dying strides to finish second in the G3 Prix Imprudence over seven furlongs at Deauville, France, on Thursday, 8 April.
The three-year-old filly, who was fifth behind Urgent Appeal in the Listed Prix Montenica in March on her previous start for Henri-Alex Pantall, soon tracked Liverchope and Louliana in third.
Sky Angel moved up to challenge Liverchope for the lead a furlong and a half from home and stayed on gamely to establish a narrow advantage under Mickael Barzalona with half a furlong to race. Reina Madre reeled in the Godolphin filly in the shadow of the post to score by a short-neck, with a length and a half back to Louliana in third.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “We are delighted with Sky Angel, who has run a great race, and very pleased to secure some G3 Black Type with her. We will see how she comes out of this before making any further plans.”
