Bow Creek makes a fourth consecutive start over a mile at Group Two level in the Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile at Ascot, UK, on Saturday, July 11.

The four-year-old colt, representing trainer Charlie Appleby, faded to finish last of six, beaten just over five lengths, after making the running in the Bet365 Mile on his seasonal return at Sandown Park on April 24.

He gained two superb victories at the end of his 2014 campaign, staying on strongly to capture the Clipper Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown, Ireland, in September, and posting an all-the-way success in the Doombar Celebration Mile at Goodwood the previous month. William Buick, who rode Bow Creek at Sandown Park, partners the son of Shamardal again.

Charlie Appleby said: "We were pleased with Bow Creek's run at Sandown and we gave him a break afterwards to wait for an opportunity like this.

"He is a horse who tends to progress with his racing and he won't be carrying a penalty on Saturday.

"It is a decent race and he has a bit to find with one or two of the others but quick ground will suit and he should be competitive."

Bow Creek, in stall eight, lines up against eight others including Toormore, Arod and Cable Bay, who were second, third and fifth in the Group One Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, plus the unbeaten Lightning Spear. Echo Of Light captured the Summer Mile for Godolphin in 2006.
