Secret Brief (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) and Udododontu (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle) both run for Godolphin in the Betway Lincoln Heritage Handicap at Doncaster on Saturday, April 2.

The straight mile contest is the first major race of the British Flat turf season.

Secret Brief has been in action early this year at Meydan, UAE. After coming home ninth in a mile turf handicap on January 16 on his seasonal debut, he finished well to take third behind Carry On Deryck and Udododontu, beaten half a length and a length and a quarter in a similar race on February 18.

The four-year-old son of Shamardal was twice placed at Listed level in 2015 and enjoyed the biggest victory of his career in a valuable sales race over seven furlongs at Newmarket in October, 2014.

Allotted 9st 4lbs, he is drawn in stall 22.

Charlie Appleby commented: "I was pleased with Secret Brief's latest run at Meydan when he stayed on nicely to finish third.

"He has come out of that race well and has travelled back to the UK in good shape.

"The likely conditions on Saturday don't look to be a negative as he has won on good to soft ground in the past.

"I am pleased with his draw of 22 and hopefully he can get a good run up the rail.

"He is horse who is happier coming from behind so a big field with a strong pace where he can be covered up suits him well."

Udododontu has also made two appearances in mile handicaps on the turf course at Meydan this year.

He was the comfortable three and a quarter length winner on January 16 and then finished the half-length runner-up to stable companion Carry On Deryck last time out on February 18.

The four-year-old son of Lope De Vega was successful twice on turf in the UK in 2015, taking a mile handicap at Chepstow and a seven-furlong handicap at York. His 2015 campaign also included a narrow half-length defeat in the Britannia Handicap over a mile at Royal Ascot.

Udododontu carries 9st 6lbs and races from stall 10.

Saeed bin Suroor said: "Udododontu ran very well out in Dubai over the winter and has been in great form. Everything is 100 per cent with him.

"His last piece of work in Dubai before he travelled over to Britain was very good.

"He is drawn in the middle of the field and so he can go either side. I am looking forward to a good run from him."

A maximum field of 22 is set to go to post in the Betway Lincoln.
