Godolphin's smart juvenile Van Der Decken has joined Charlie Appleby at Moulton Paddocks, Newmarket (UK), and is now set to target the top two-year-old races for the remainder of the season.

Van Der Decken was in the care of his original trainer Paddy Twomey when he finished a promising fifth to Caravaggio in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

The son of Dutch Art had been purchased privately by Godolphin after making a winning debut at the Curragh in a six-furlong maiden on May 22.

John Ferguson, Godolphin's chief executive and racing manager, said: "We were delighted with Van Der Decken's run in the Coventry, and we think he will be suited to either the G2 Richmond Stakes or G2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood."
