Victor Ludorum third on comeback in G2 Prix du Muguet

Victor Ludorum stayed on to finish third on his first appearance for nearly eight months in the G2 Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud, France, on Saturday, 1 May.
Last season’s G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner was held up in mid-division on the inside rail by Mickael Barzalona for much of the mile contest.
The Andre Fabre-trained Shamardal colt made good headway after being switched out in the straight, passing The Revenant for third in the final strides to go down by two and a quarter lengths in total behind Duhail.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “It was a pleasing return to action for Victor Ludorum, who ran well and was very relaxed through the race. He had a good blow afterwards and we expect him to come on a lot for it.
“It’s important to see how horses perform and recover after a layoff, but one option could be the G1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp at the end of the month.”
