Whitney perfect for 'stunner' Frosted

It is eight weeks since Frosted stunned American race fans with his fourteen-and-a-quarter-length demolition of a high class field in the G1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park, New York.
But his admiring trainer Kiaran McLaughlin warns not to expect a repeat of that run when the Godolphin flagship faces five rivals in Saturday's G1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga, a 'Win and You're in" race for the G1 Breeders' Cup Classic in November.
"I'll be disappointed if he is not in the winner's circle, but I'm not expecting anything like his run in the Met Mile. That was the performance of a lifetime," McLaughlin declared.
Frosted's annihilation of his rivals on June 11 ranks highly in a series of wide-margin victories in American racing. When he crushed his nine rivals at Belmont, he registered the largest margin of victory in 123 runnings of the Met Mile.
Did such a mind-blowing performance leaves its mark? "Not at all," reports McLaughlin. "He's thriving on it. He's happy and sharp.
"After such a huge race, I feel it is perfect timing to have eight weeks between runs. It is ideal. He's been doing great. Also, I'm happy that Joel (Rosario) rides him. He's not always a straightforward ride, but Joel gets along with him very well, so I'm happy with him being aboard," the trainer added.
The opposition in Saturday's Whitney is headed by Effinex, winner of the G1 Suburban Handicap last month, with Comfort, Upstart, Noble Bird and El Kabeir completing the field.
McLaughlin also had an encouraging report about Godolphin's Kareena, who is set to run in the G1 Test Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday. "She's doing very well. She's improved with every race," he pointed out.
Kareena made a winning Stakes debut when taking the Listed Jersey Girl Stakes at Belmont on only her third outing.
McLaughlin also plans to run the Godolphin four-year-old Robillard on the same card but admitted "it's a tough race. It won't be easy."
