A Soldier's Life returns to Pattern company for the Group Three Qatar Prix Gladiateur over just short of two miles at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, September 13.
The four-year-old colt, representing Andre Fabre, kept on well to finish fourth on his only previous Pattern appearance in the Group Three Prix Noailles over 10 and a half furlongs at Longchamp in April, 2014.
He gained a facile victory in a Deauville Listed race over an extended 12 furlongs in October and has made two appearances so far this season, including when rallying well to take second in an extended 14-furlong Clairefontaine conditions race on August 21.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: "A Soldier's Life was very progressive last autumn and then had a couple of hard races at the end of the year, which has meant that it has taken a while for him to get back to his best form this season.
"His last run at Clairefontaine was very encouraging, when he finished very strongly and was blowing pretty hard at the end. He has come on a lot for that and, if he can return to his best form of last year, he should be able to make the frame."
Mickael Barzalona rides A Soldier's Life, who lines up against 10 stayers including Maisons-Laffitte Listed scorer Mille Et Mille, Group One runner-up Billabong, and multiple German Group Three winner Vif Monsieur.
Ley Hunter was successful for Godolphin in the Prix Gladiateur in 2011.
