Promising two-year-old Best Solution goes for G3 glory when stepping up in trip for the seven-furlong Tattersalls Stakes (15.40hrs local time) on day one of Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting, Thursday, September 22.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained colt has made three appearances over six furlongs, most recently when staying on well after missing the break to take third in the International Trakya Trophy, a local G3 contest on turf at Veliefendi, Turkey, on September 4.
He rallied strongly for a comfortable win a Goodwood maiden on July 26 and was third on debut in another maiden at Windsor earlier the same month.
William Buick has his first ride on Best Solution, who is drawn seven in a field of eight, and rivals include unbeaten Listed winner Escobar, Irish maiden scorer Whitecliffsofdover and close Doncaster Listed third Larchmont Lad.
Saeed bin Suroor reported: "Best Solution won nicely at Goodwood and ran an OK race out in Turkey, where he missed the break and finished well.
"He has been working well and is in good form. This is a step up for him but he deserves to take his chance in a G3 contest and seven furlongs will be no problem."
The first day of Cambridgeshire meeting also features the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl (16.15hrs local time) over 12 furlongs, in which five-year-old Sir Fever (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) makes his first appearance for nearly 18 months.
