Crittenden contests the Grade Two Del Mar Derby over nine furlongs on turf at Del Mar, California, USA, on Sunday, September 6.

The three-year-old son of Distorted Humor, trained by Eoin Harty, was last seen out when fading to fifth in the Grade One Secretariat Stakes over 10 furlongs on turf at Arlington Park on August 15.

He was the fast-finishing neck second in the Grade Three American Derby over nine furlongs on turf at Arlington Park on July 11 and won a conditions race over an extended seven furlongs on turf at Indiana Grand on May 31.

Eoin Harty said: "There was torrential rain in Chicago area before his last start in the Secretariat Stakes. It had not rained for a long time beforehand and having declared to run on a firm ground it had turned against him by the time the race was run.

"He is now back in California and the conditions at Del Mar on Sunday should be much more suitable for him. There has not been any rain here for a long time and that is not likely to change by Sunday. He is in good form and we are looking forward to a good run from him."

Rafael Bejarano takes the ride for the first time on Crittenden, who faces six rivals including easy Grade Three scorer Prospect Park.
