Easy G3 success for Sound And Silence at Maisons-Laffitte

Sound And Silence made all for a comprehensive victory in the G3 Prix Eclipse over six furlongs at Maisons-Laffitte, France, on Wednesday, September 20.
The two-year-old Exceed And Excel colt, a dual Listed winner previously over five furlongs, broke smartly and went to the front under James Doyle, enjoying a narrow advantage.
Sound And Silence quickened the tempo two furlongs out and drew away in the final furlong before being eased approaching the line to score by three lengths from Coeur De Beaute in 1m 13.81s on sticky ground.
His trainer Charlie Appleby said: “It was a good effort from Sound And Silence today. We were hopeful that he would see out the six furlongs and he has done it well.
“He has been on the go a while now, but seems to be enjoying life and we might have a look at coming back for the G2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte over this same course and distance on October 13.”
