Fine third for Morgan Le Faye in Prix du Cadran

Morgan Le Faye produced a career-best effort to finish a close third on her G1 debut in the Prix du Cadran at Longchamp, France, on Saturday, 6 October.
Stepping up to two and a half miles for the first time, the Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old filly was switched off in last of the eight-strong field by Mickael Barzalona.
She still had the entire field in front of her turning for home but travelled strongly into the race and quickened well to go third a furlong and a half from home.
The daughter of Shamardal continued to make good headway and briefly looked set to challenge for the lead approaching the final half-furlong until Call The Wind found more to score by a length and a quarter in 4m 24.41s on good ground.
Morgan Le Faye kept on all the way to the line to come home a short-head behind runner-up Holdthasigreen.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Morgan Le Faye has run an excellent race and really shown her class. She got a bit tired at the end but it was still a very good performance and we have no excuses.
“We have no plans at the moment and will see how she comes out of the race before deciding whether she runs again this year or stays in training next season.”
