Javanica gained some more valuable Black Type with a valiant second to Going Global in the mile G2 Royal Heroine Stakes at Santa Anita, USA, on Saturday, 9 April.
The Eoin Harty-trained filly was pushed along leaving the stalls by John Velazquez to take up the running and soon established a length advantage over her three rivals.
Her lead was reduced slightly with half a mile to race before Going Global moved up to hit the front entering the final quarter-mile.
Javanica kept on in the closing stages to go down by a length and three-quarters, with a further two and a quarter lengths back to Excelerina in third.
Eoin Harty said: “It went according to plan for Javanica but the winner got a very good ride. Going Global is normally a horse that comes from off the pace but her rider was smart enough to know that Javanica was the only runner with any speed, so he couldn’t afford to let us get away.
“We ran a very fast time for the first mile and it was a good effort. The winner has already got a G1 to her name, so it was no disgrace. I’d like to get a Graded Stakes into Javanica at some point – she’s obviously capable of winning one, it’s just a matter of where and when.”
