Progressive three-year-old Legend Of Time notched a third straight turf win at Meydan this season as he comfortably accounted for stable-mate Musical Act in the Listed Jumeirah Classic Sponsored By Arabian Adventures on Saturday, 2 March.
The Charlie Appleby-trained colt, successful in the Jumeirah Guineas Trial and Jumeirah Guineas, tracked Athan and Musical Act before moving up between the duo to challenge for the lead with two furlongs to race.
Sent on by William Buick a furlong and a half out, Legend Of Time saw off a persistent Musical Act entering the final furlong before powering clear to score by nearly five lengths.
Charlie Appleby said: “It was a nice, even pace, which William was hoping for because he says Legend Of Time does have a turn of foot.
“I personally feel going up to a mile and a quarter will be better for him. The further he went tonight, the more he was pulling away.
“The grand plan is to work back from a Saratoga or Belmont Derby. We might ship him out to America for a race beforehand, just so he can get used to the style of racing.”
William Buick said: “Legend Of Time has gradually gone up in trip, from seven furlongs to nine furlongs, and this sort of trip is more to his liking.
“He showed a bit of pace there and the second Musical Act sets a good standard, so I was very pleased with him. He is certainly a horse to look forward to for the rest of the year.
“As the season progresses, I don’t think 10 furlongs will be a problem and he could be well-suited to the Derby series on turf in America.”
