Mischief Magic conjures up another win with exhilarating G3 Sirenia display

Progressive two-year-old Mischief Magic completed a hat-trick of wins as he unleashed a sparkling turn of foot to take the G3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton Park, UK, on Saturday, 3 September.
Making his first all-weather appearance on his Pattern debut, the son of Exceed And Excel tacked across from his high draw to settle in second-last of the 10 runners.
Mischief Magic was angled out by Pat Dobbs entering the final quarter-mile and the Charlie Appleby-trained colt powered through the field to collar long-time leader Malrescia half a furlong out.
The full-brother to Royal Ascot winner Sound And Silence readily went clear in the closing stages, crossing the line two lengths in front of Believing in the six-furlong contest.
Charlie Appleby said: “It was a very pleasing performance from Mischief Magic, who has done it nicely from a wide draw. It was a great ride from Pat Dobbs and his most likely target now is the G1 Middle Park Stakes.”
Pat Dobbs said: “Mischief Magic was always travelling. He got a little bit of kickback and backed off a little but, when I gave him a squeeze, he jumped back on the bridle, so I knew I had plenty of horse left.
“I got there a little bit too soon but I could see the boys down the inside had gone three or four lengths clear. Mischief Magic has a very good turn of foot and picked them up very quickly.
“He has a very good head on his shoulders and will get seven furlongs too as he is very relaxed. He does everything right and I’m not sure how far he can go – he is definitely on the way up.”
