‘Time’ to join the top table at York

Endless Time is fit and ready to uphold Godolphin's good record in the G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks - the feature race on Day 2 of the Ebor Meeting - according to trainer Charlie Appleby.

Godolphin winners of the semi-Classic, first run in 1849, are Punctilious (2005), Blue Bunting (2012), and Pleascach (2015).

Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed won the Yorkshire Oaks with Awaasif (1982), Untold (1986) and Diminuendo (1988), who all carried his maroon and white colours.

Endless Time has been supplemented for the race, with Appleby convinced she is worthy of her chance of a crack at G1 company. She faces 11 rivals, among them winners of a G1 Breeders' Cup Turf (Found), a G1 Darley Irish Oaks (Seventh Heaven) and a G2 Ribblesdale Stakes (Even Song).

Appleby is proud of the Godolphin filly's record - six wins from eight starts - and expects her to acquit herself well on Knavesmire. "She is a lovely Sea The Stars filly, who will not be out of place in this strong field," the trainer said.

"She's in good order coming into the race," he added. "In an ideal world, she could do with more juice in the ground, although having said that, she won on Good to Firm at Newmarket earlier in her career," he pointed out.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, is represented by the progressive filly Fireglow, who comes into the race off the back of a good win in the Listed Chalice Stakes, over a mile and a half at Newmarket.

Earlier in the year, Fireglow finished an excellent second in the G3 Musidora Stakes, a strong pointer to her liking for York. Her record stands at an impressive four wins from 13 starts.

The key to the Yorkshire Oaks will be the performance of the Ballydoyle filly Found, who is BHA top-rated. She finished second in both the G1 Coronation Cup at Epsom and the G1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, both very tough demands against the strongest opposition.

Against her own sex, Found will no doubt find it easier, the mile and a half on Knavesmire will be as far as she would want to go.
