Alkandora took another significant step forward in her progressive career with a closing third in the 10-furlong G2 Prix de la Nonette at Deauville, France, on Saturday, 22 August.
The Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old, who was also third over the same course and distance in the G3 Prix de Psyche on Saturday, 1 August, was held up in sixth of the seven runners by Mickael Barzalona.
Alkandora moved up to press for fourth approaching the home straight and stayed on strongly inside the final furlong, getting up for third in the closing stages to go down by a length and a quarter in total behind Teofilo filly Tawkeel.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “We are delighted with Alkandora, who has run really well again. She is progressing all the time and this was another step up on her previous form.
“She coped with the very soft ground and will handle a step up in trip. This will hopefully set her up for a nice autumn campaign and a race like the G1 Prix Vermeille (1m 4f, Longchamp, Sunday, 13 September) could enter considerations.”
