Excellent Vermeille second for Endless Time

Endless Time returned to form when runner-up in the G1 Qatar Prix Vermeille over 12 furlongs on turf at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, September 11.
The four-year-old Sea The Stars filly, ridden by Mickael Barzalona after transport problems meant William Buick could not get there in time, soon went to the front and maintained the advantage entering the straight.
Kicked for home with a quarter-mile remaining, Endless Time ran on well and was only headed in the closing stages by the winner Left Hand who scored by a half a length in 2m 33.23s on ground described as good.
The Juliet Rose finished a further three quarters of a length back in third of the six runners.
Endless Time, winner of six of her 10 races, disappointed last time out in the 12-furlong Darley Yorkshire Oaks on good to firm going at York on August 18.
Her trainer Charlie Appleby commented: "Tactically, we felt we were better off on the front end as there was no pace in the race. She has won everywhere bar the line.
"The natural step for her now is to go straight for the (British Champions) Fillies & Mares Stakes (G1, 12f, Ascot, October 15). On the back of a good run like that, she is going to be very competitive - hopefully there will be a bit of juice in the ground.
"She has only had two disappointing runs in her life, on quick ground last time out, and on quick ground as a three-year-old so she has been ultra consistent - a very game mare."
