G3 third for Floodlight

Floodlight came home third on his return to G3 level in La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte at Maisons-Laffitte, France, on Saturday, September 17.
The Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old, second to Almanzor in the G3 Prix de Guiche earlier this season, was covered up in a close fourth of the six-strong field by Mickael Barzalona for the majority of the 10-furlong contest.
He moved up to third as the pace quickened a furlong and a half from home and battled well when pressed by Incantator and Now We Can near the line.
Banzari scored by a length and a half over Ame Bleue in 2m 9.58s on soft ground, with Floodlight finishing a further half-length in arrears.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Floodlight ran well, especially considering the ground was softer than he would have liked.
“They didn’t go very fast early on and it turned into a bit of a sprint but he stayed on in the closing stages. We may look to give him another run this year.”
