Three-year-old colts Glorious Journey and Zucchini run in the G3 Prix de Guiche over nine furlongs at Chantilly, France, on Monday, 7 May.

Glorious Journey (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) gained a decisive success on his previous appearance in France when making all in the seven-furlong G3 Prix La Rochette at Saint-Cloud in September.

The son of Dubawi steps up in trip after coming home fourth behind stable companion Masar in the G3 Craven Stakes over a mile at Newmarket, UK, on 19 April – his seasonal debut.

Zucchini (Andre Fabre/Mickael Barzalona), also by Dubawi, makes his Pattern debut after gaining a short-neck victory on his only start in a Saint-Cloud newcomers’ event over seven and a half furlongs in November.

The field of seven for the Prix de Guiche includes Alternative Fact, runner-up to Wootton in the Listed Prix Isonomy last year, and Longchamp winner Julian Rock.

Charlie Appleby explained: “Glorious Journey has come forward for his run in the Craven Stakes and the step up to nine furlongs should suit him. “Both of those factors should make him very competitive.”

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Zucchini didn’t win by a huge margin on his only start, but he is a colt that we like.

“He is a good-looking horse with a nice action and we will hopefully find out a bit more about him on Monday.”
