Jimmy Two Times back over a mile in Prix Messidor

Consistent five-year-old Jimmy Two Times returns to a mile as he bids for a fourth Group victory in the G3 Prix Messidor at Maisons-Laffitte, France, on Sunday, 22 July. 

The Andre Fabre-trained Kendargent horse gained the biggest success of his career so far over the same distance when running on well for a half-length triumph in the G2 Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud in May, 2017. 

Jimmy Two Times also won over a mile at Saint-Cloud with an impressive display in the G3 Prix Edmond Blanc in April, 2017, and took the seven-furlong G3 Prix de la Porte Maillot at Deauville in 2016. 

He finished third in the 2018 Prix Edmond Blanc, runner-up this year’s Prix du Muguet and was third in G3 races over seven furlongs at Longchamp on his two most recent appearances – the Prix du Palais-Royal on 2 June and the Prix de la Porte Maillot on 30 June. 

Jimmy Two Times, who is ridden by Mickael Barzalona for the third time, meets four rivals in the Prix Messidor headed by G1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp runner-up and last year’s winner Taareef, UK Listed winner Emmaus and Japanese challenger Geniale. 

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Jimmy Two Times has been running well so far this year, although we are hoping to see a slight improvement over a trip that suits him.”

Elsewhere on Sunday’s card, four-year-old Shamardal filly Morgan Le Faye (Andre Fabre/Mickael Barzalona) goes for a first Listed success when dropping down in distance for the 10-runner Prix de la Pepiniere over an extended 10 furlongs.
