Godolphin launches a strong challenge on the Group One QIPCO Falmouth Stakes with Lucida and Fintry lining up in the mile contest on Newmarket's July Course on Friday, July 10.

Lucida (Jim Bolger/Kevin Manning) takes on older opposition for the first time after two excellent efforts in both of the UK's Group One races over a mile for three-year-old fillies.

The Shamardal filly ran on strongly to take a close third, beaten three quarters of a length, in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 19 and went down by the same margin when second in the Newmarket Classic, the QIPCO 1000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile on May 3.

She ended an excellent juvenile campaign with two appearances on the Rowley Mile, coming home fifth in the Group One Dubai Fillies' Mile in October and gaining an authoritative victory in the seven-furlong Group Two Shadwell Rockfel Stakes in September.

Four-year-old Fintry (Andre Fabre/Mickael Barzalona), who is also a daughter of Shamardal, made all to beat Avenir Certain by half a length in the Group Three Bertrand du Breuil Longines over a mile at Chantilly, France, on June 14.

She was fifth on her seasonal return in the nine-furlong Group Two Charm Spirit Dahlia Stakes on the Rowley Mile on May 3 and came home third behind Integral at the same course in the mile Group One Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes in October.

Fintry gained a hat-trick of wins last summer, headed by a comfortable success in the Group Two Prix de Sandringham over a mile at Chantilly.

Lucida and Fintry oppose seven other fillies and mares including dual Classic winner Avenir Certain, two-time Group One scorer Integral and French Group Two winner Bawina.

Jim Bolger commented: "Lucida is very well and I couldn't be happier with her."

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: "Fintry won very nicely last time out and comes into this race in great form.

"This is a very strong Group One and she is racing against some very good fillies and mares including Lucida, Integral and Avenir Certain, who might be better suited by the running of the race this time."

Lucida is drawn six, while Fintry will emerge from stall two.
