Fractional returned to form when capturing the Group Three Prix Messidor over the straight mile at Maisons-Laffitte, France, on Sunday, July 5.

The six-year-old, trained by Andre Fabre, raced a close second, first on the inside and then on the outside, as Bookrunner set a steady up front.

Mickael Barzalona asked Fractional to challenge passing the quarter-mile pole and the son of Manduro went to the front with over a furlong to go.

Fractional ran on well to put a length between himself and the second, Faufiler, at the post, winning in 1m 38.40s.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: "It is great to see Fractional back in form - the performance looked not far off his best form.

"The pace was steady but he sat by the leader and, while it took a little while for him to find his stride, he did quicken very nicely.

"There are no plans at the moment. This race is typically a prep for the Prix Jacques Le Marois (Group One, mile, Deauville, France, August 16) but discussions will take place about his target."
