Rouleau gained his first Group Three victory in the toteexacta Sirenia Stakes over six furlongs on Polytrack at Kempton Park on Saturday, September 5.

The Exceed And Excel two-year-old, trained by Charlie Appleby and the mount of William Buick, stepped back up to six furlongs in the eight-runner contest after being placed twice over five furlongs.

He broke well and soon raced in second towards the outside. Asked to progress in the straight, Rouleau made good headway to lead over furlong out.

The Godolphin runner gained more than a length advantage before holding off well the challenge of Dream Destination by a half-length. The winning time was 1m 13.51s.

This was Rouleau's third success and they have all come at six furlongs but on three different surfaces, Polytrack, Tapeta and turf.

Charlie Appleby commented: "Rouleau deserved to win a race like that. He is very consistent and racing back at six furlongs meant he was in his comfort zone again.

"He is a handy horse to have and it was a great ride by William.

"If there is a sound surface at Newbury for the Mill Reef Stakes (six furlongs, Group Two, September 19) then he could run in that race next."
