Jimmy Two Times continues his progress in Muguet

Godolphin’s recent purchase Jimmy Two Times successfully stepped up to victory in the mile G2 Prix Du Muguet at Saint-Cloud, France, on Monday, May 1.
The four-year-old grey Kendargent colt, bought after beating Dicton in the G3 Prix Edmond Blanc over the same course and distance on April 2, was always going well under Vincent Cheminaud.
The Andre Fabre-trained Jimmy Two Times raced in fourth towards the outside before making headway in the straight to go third and then second just inside the final furlong.
He soon took the lead from another Godolphin runner, the front-running Toscanini (Richard Fahey/William Buick), and ran on to hold off Kourkan by a half-length in 1m 41.01s on good to soft going.
The third Godolphin runner, five-year-old mare Usherette (Andre Fabre/Mickael Barzalona), started her 2017 campaign in the race and raced eighth of the 10 runners before finishing well to snatch third on the line, a length and a quarter behind the runner-up. Toscanini, one-paced in the closing stages, finished a further head back in fifth.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Jimmy Two Times was never going to win as easily as last time but Vincent always felt he had the race under control.
“The colt quickened in the straight and might go for the Queen Anne Stakes (G1, straight mile, June 20) at Royal Ascot.
“Usherette ran nicely, finishing well on her first run of the year which she probably needed, and she could be targeted at the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (G2, straight mile, June 21) at Royal Ascot.”
