Big Blue ran well to finish second in the Group Three Prix de Lutece over a mile and seven furlongs at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, September 6.

The three-year-old colt, trained by Andre Fabre and ridden by Mickael Barzalona, was held up towards the rear initially before being settled fourth of the six runners on the inside. He went third at half-way and was asked to improve further entering the straight.

Big Blue, switched out with two furlongs remaining, came with a strong run to dispute the lead just inside the final furlong. The winner Vazirabad had a better turn of foot but the Godolphin runner kept on well, going down by a length and a quarter at the line. The winner's time came to 3m 12.35s on good ground.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: "Big Blue ran very well and confirmed the form of his Listed race win.

"The ground was probably on the quick side for him today but it was an encouraging performance.

"He is entered in the Qatar Prix Chaudenay (Group Two) over this course and distance on Arc weekend (Saturday, October 3) and, if the ground comes up soft, it will be very tempting to run him."
