Musis Amica ran a remarkable race as she quickened strongly from the rear to snatch second in the G1 Prix de Diane over an extended 10 furlongs at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, 17 June.

The daughter of Dawn Approach, stepping up in trip for Andre Fabre after coming home sixth in the mile G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, raced in a clear last of the 13 runners and had to be niggled along by Mickael Barzalona for much of the French Classic for three-year-old fillies.

She still had the whole field in front of her approaching the final quarter-mile but came with a withering run down the centre of the course to take second on the line and go down by a neck to Laurens, who won in 2m 6.11s on good to soft ground.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Musis Amica is a very laid-back filly, who finishes her races strongly, and it was an extraordinary effort from her to finish second.

“We will certainly be looking at the options over a mile and a half for her now. We will see how she comes out of the race before deciding where to go next, but it was great to see her run so well against some very strong opposition.”
