Soleil Marin shines in G3 Prix Noailles

Soleil Marin rallied well to win the G3 Prix Noailles on his first appearance for Godolphin at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, April 16.
This victory over an extended mile and a quarter was a fifth consecutive success for the three-year-old Kendargent colt, who is trained in France by Andre Fabre.
He joined Godolphin after making an impressive seasonal debut in the Listed Prix Francois Mathet over the same distance at Saint-Cloud on March 23, when he quickened clear in the straight to score by a length and three quarters.
Soleil Marin, partnered by Mickael Barzalona, chased the leaders in fourth, towards the outside, of the seven runners as Galipad took them along.
He was switched out in the straight and went third before taking a narrow lead with a furlong remaining.
Headed briefly by Akihiro, making his seasonal return, Soleil Marin rallied in good style and regained the lead close home to win by a head in 2m 8.34s on turf described as good.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: Soleil Marin is a very tough and progressive colt with the right attitude.
“He had the fitness advantage over the runner-up, but we are very pleased with him.
“It looks as though he will stay a mile and a half and we will find another race soon.”
